Stunning sunrise at Lantau Peak

Right in our own backyard is a vast mountain range that plays host to the increasingly popular Lantau trail. Along this 70-km footpath, in the moderately difficult section between Ngong Ping and Tung Chung road lies the Phoenix Mountain, commonly known as Lantau Peak, second highest point in Hong Kong.

Lantau Peak beholds splendid views for those willing to make the journey, but none as magnificent as those it offers at sunrise. Photographer and Lantau resident Peter Lam has been meaning to go on this hike for a long time, a trip that must commence hours before dawn. During the Lunar New Year holiday, he finally got his chance -- and took some glorious pictures from the top.

Check out the amazing photos Peter took of his hike up Lantau Peak, including some spectacular daybreak shots. You can also see more of his beautiful Lantau snaps here.
