Perfect time to visit museums this weekend. Free enry to all Leisure and Cultural Services Department museums in HK in January.
Under the "Appreciate Hong Kong" Campaign, all museums of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department offer free admission for the entire month of January, 2016. They are hoping to encourage Hong Kongers to discover and visit more museums.

Hong Kong Museum of History: The HK Museum of History is right next to the HK Science Museum. They are two of Hong Kong's most visited museums. The History Museum portrays the whole panorama of Hong Kong's history from the very beginning, through the prehistoric times, imperial dynastic rule, British rule, the Japanese occupation, up until present time. Hong Kong Science Museum: The Science Museum is one of the most popular museums in HK. This museum will really appeal to your children. They will be able to enjoy interactive science exhibits, computers, and instructive videos. The museum staff also performs daily, live demonstrations, many of which are designed for younger visitors. You will also be able to learn about various topics, from physics to nutrition and more in-between. There is a physical fitness testing gallery where you can test your own health and stamina. Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence: You can take a short scenic walk along Shau Kei Wan, and visit the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence that used to being a British fort. It was damaged in WWII, and you can still see some of the war damage as you stroll around the park-like grounds. The many galleries will tell you the story of the defence of the Hong Kong coastline from the time of the Ming Dynasty, through the First and Second Opium Wars and the Battle of Hong Kong, through to today.
