A 48-year old Hong Kong climbing instructor died a few days ago after falling down a 60-metre high cliff in Pat Sin Leng.
He was climbing alone at the time and it took 2 hours for someone to notice the hiker had been trapped about 10 meters from the top of the cliff, called the Monkey Cliff in the New Territories.
As reported by EJI, mountaineering expert Chung Kin-man reiterated his general warning that people should never hike or climb alone, regardless of experience as any natural environment poses a certain degree of safety risk.
"Even the most experienced hikers could still fall victim to accidents", he said.
