Discovery College: DC Family Fun Day
- Written by November 27, 2015
It's one of the highlights of the local calendar, with thousands expected to descend on Discovery College tomorrow for its annual DC Family Fun Day.
The annual event has gone from strength to strength each year, and this year will feature dozens of commercial and charity stalls and fun entertainment and games for the whole family.
Jane Robbins, of the DC Parent Teacher Association, said there would be food stalls with cuisine from more than 14 countries and more than 40 commercial stalls showcasing local goods and services.
Jane said other highlights included a massive costume sale, demonstrations and a stall to have photos with Santa Claus.
Older children would enjoy the chance to play EpicLand's Laser Tag, take part in a nerf gun challenge or have the perennially popular opportunity to dunk a teacher.
There will also be raffles throughout the day and Jane said people wanting to donate prizes were still able to do so.
People who brought their own plate for food would receive a free raffle ticket as part of an initiative to reduce waste and make the event environmentally friendly.
People were also able to donate cakes to the cake stalls up until the last minute tomorrow, she said.
Jane, whose three sons Ben 13, Matthew, 11, and Josh, 10, all attend DC, said the event was open to the whole community.
"There's something for everyone - it's not just DC families, it's for the whole community," she said.
Proceeds from the event are used for facilities to benefit the school and community.
The event runs from 12 noon to 5pm and entry is free of charge. Any queries please contact Jane on 9756 3470.
