Authorities are warning of a very high air pollution health risk this afternoon.
The Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department has set the Air Quality Health Index to a category of Moderate to Very High.
When the air pollution risk hits Very High, the general public is advised to reduce outdoor physical exertion, and to reduce the time of their stay outdoors, especially in areas with heavy traffic.
The AQHI is reported on a scale of 1 to 10 and 10+. Very High has a ranking of 8-10.
The Hong Kong Observatory has also issued two warnings today - one for hot weather and one for fire risk.
The public are warned the hot weather may cause adverse health effects and that prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided.
The fire danger is set to Red and the fire risk is extreme.
The temperature today is expected to reach 32C with humidity at 52 per cent.
