Cheung Chau woman on holding murder charge

Police have reminded Lantau Island residents to alert authorities if they have information about any suspicious activity in the wake of an arrest last week.

Police laid a holding charge of one count of murder against a 30-year-old woman on Cheung Chau on August 26.

The holding charge came in suspected connection with a murder case in which the woman's two-month-old son died on August 25.

The case is now before the court.

The 31-year-old sister of the woman was arrested for misleading police officers and was released on bail pending further inquiries. She is required to report back to police later this month.

A police spokesman said police encouraged citizens to fight crime together with the police.

"Any crime information may be of assistance," he said.

"Please report to a police station nearby or call the police hotline on 2527 7177."
