Double-decker bus launch

Discovery Bay’s six new double-decker buses were officially welcomed at a launch ceremony attended by a healthy crowd at the DB Plaza Bus Terminus on Wednesday afternoon.
Vincent Chua, the Head of City Management and Transportation, welcomed the crowd to the event, thanking the Passenger Liaison Group for their support and, in particular, Peter Crush.
“I would like to give special thanks to Mr Peter Crush because without his involvement and his great support during the negotiation process with the transport department, we would not have got these (buses) in DB,” Vincent said.
The main aim of the buses, which will hit the road this Sunday, August 16 and will be used predominantly on the Sunny Bay route, is to ease congestion during peak hours.
Vincent is confident the new fleet will do just this, hailing the introduction of the buses as a big step forward for Discovery Bay.
“I think most of the residents here are happy to see that we have the double-deckers now,” Vincent said. “We don’t have sufficient single deck buses to serve the demands during the peak hour. The coming of the double-deckers will surely improve this.”
After the ceremony, those present were invited to board the bus for a trial run to Sunny Bay.
