‘Discovery Foreshore’ Pitch Opens
- Written by arounddb
Discovery Bay residents, local sports clubs and the students of Discovery College will all benefit from the artificial pitch officially opened at DC on Wednesday.
The opening of the pitch marked the end of a six-year project undertaken by the Discovery Bay City Owner's Committee, Discovery College, Hong Kong Resort Company Limited and the DB community.
DC students celebrated the opening by standing on the pitch in their house colours, while later in the day there was an Under 12 football match between DC and Discovery Bay International School.
The pitch, labelled Discovery Foreshore, will be used for rugby, football and netball, amongst other things, and can be booked by sports clubs. It will also be open for casual use by DB residents, while DC will use the pitch for sports training and other school activities.
The area actually features two pitches, one 51.4 x 22m and the other 37.3 x 20.1m, and is covered with ‘Poligras’, the same turf used at the 2012 Olympics. The area will also feature a shaded area and a storage shed.
Bookings for the pitch will be managed by DC and can be made by contacting business manager Pat Romano (3969 1000).
