Mui Wo shop: free books for domestic workers

A Mui Wo-based book and music shop is giving away about 400 books to foreign domestic workers.

Gary Brightman, owner at VIBE, says he plans to run the free offer until January 2 next year. And “as I’ll keep adding to the books”,  could run on a longer term if successful. Domestic workers who are looking to get a hold of the books can take a maximum of six. The genres mainly cover romantic novels, chick literature, light reading, and fiction novels.

“I see myself as a community service and we are going through tough times with C19 (COVID-19). As employers leave HK, helpers are losing work and need our support,” says Gary.

Earlier this year, VIBE marked its second anniversary on the down-low, but has remained open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The shop also organises book talks and jamming sessions for local residents and artists.  For more details, contact 9088 2370 / email [email protected] or visit VIBE on Facebook.
